Composting Program 

Soul Food Project is striving to create Indianapolis’s first free community composting area, where Indianapolis community members can combat food waste, support local food production, and participate in their local food system.

Why should you compost?
  • To reduce food waste going to landfills

  • Improve us improve soil, plant growth and yield

  • Use less water as compost helps with fluid retention

Compost can be dropped off at our Sheldon Street location near Frederick Douglass Park.

Compost must be dropped into the large trash container labeled for compost collection.

Please ensure all compost gets into the container to keep the area tidy and pest-free!

We will also do Saturday compost pick-up within a 5-mile radius of our farm.

Please ensure your compost bucket is out and ready for pick-up on Saturday!
